Another end of the month is here, and another update is ready for you. Before diving into the details, let me make a quick recap of how the year is going and where we're heading.
As you know, the start of 2024 was marked by the release of 0.5.XX and the beginning of a massive overhaul of core game systems and components.
January: Trait overhaul
February: Clothes rework (+Elise rework)
March: Body reword (+Sabrina content)
As you can see, almost no stone has been left unturned, and these massive changes were also the reasons why backwards compatibility broke as code fundamentals were re-written.
With this third update, I'm think we're in a pretty good place with the general systems overhaul. These changes are massive and disruptive, but lay the foundation of the final and much improved version of the game.
What to expect next?
With so many core changes, some chaos has been thrown into the system. I will spend April replaying Chapter 1 heavily and polishing and tweaking anything that's needed for a polished final experience.
I'm also taking the opportunity to give you the heads up that 0.5.03 was equally massively disruptive, and while I tried to playtest as much as possible, I am expecting some things to break and to be hotfixed within the first weak. I'll do my best to keep an eye and be responsive.
After April, if everything is going smoothly, Chapter 2 is next - the plan is to bring all these core changes over, make sure everything is running smoothly and used to its full potential.
There will also be some additional content drops to fill in stuff that was left without a proper conclusion - Ishtar, Ruxandra, and so on.
If everything is going according to plan, the first half of the year should be enough to bring the Big Overhaul to a close and make sure that Chapters 1 and 2 are functioning smoothly in their gameplay loops and are content rich and satisfying.
After that, of course the circle will loop back to Chapter 3 and fleshing out all the remaining Game Endings, and anything else that needs attention.
