Hello guys! Here’s some progress on the project 🔥
First of all, the cover. I really like how the title and the drawing came out, and part of me is afraid of inking and possibly ruin it, but the time will come eventually.
What I worked on next was the intro with my character. I decided to use my sona transforming into a more impish version of herself. It’s subtle, but the differences are there.
I decided to draw all the comic like pages first to get those out of the way. And then I started with the inking of this first set.
The hard part came when I decided I wanted to make the complex kind of inking because I haven’t done it in a very long time. While it takes longer and requires a lot of patience and attention to detail, I find it way more fulfilling than the other.
The problem is, I forgot how to do it, haha. So, at the beginning, I was extra slow because I was inking with a lot of fear and a level of care I didn’t intend.
Here’s a panel I made. It was after making a whole other page and I was already warmed up. I’m not necessarily faster now, but at least I’m less scared of ruining it.
The bad news: this takes a lot of time, focus and energy and definitely will not be ready for during the convention. But it’s ok, it was a frustrating realisation, but now I can adjust my calendar accordingly. I’ll still use the event to try to get some attention for the pre sale stage.
This has been a journey. I’ve never spent this much time and care in personal pages. This is not very business smart, but I really would like this to be a quality project, made with lot of care. The commissioned comics already have those conditions, and I want every other element to be on the same level. No need of luxurious printing, just good art. I don’t know if this will sell well enough, I just want it to be something I’d be proud to show (to those who dare to see).
I’ve been mailing different printers and already chose one that has a very fair price. The book will be A5 size and 60 pages long including the covers and will be drawn and designed by me. I have no idea how much to charge. I was thinking somewhere between 12 and 15€. What do you think?
The work rhythm in this project will slow down. Each page takes more than a day to ink. and I have a lot more things to do and with more urgency. But I won’t let it totally aside, I want to at least dedicate it two hours each day. I’ll be streaming some of those moments, specially when we get to the TF illustrations. I’ll let you know on Discord.
