Hello everyone!
Just wanted to keep you posted on what I’ve been working during the week. I’ve been doing my best to finish this big set of pencil drawings, but it takes a while.
Here is a little snippet of all of them, plus a WIP of the first one.
These are not sketches, though they may look “sketchy” due to the pencil on paper texture. I often have to draw the same thing three times in order to get the proportions/clothes right and to give it a clean final look.
I know nobody asked, but I often get exasperated for taking so long xd. I’ll be sharing them in small groups during the weekend.
On a different note, here are some important updates:
1) Starting on Monday, I’ll be working as part of the art team of a video game for two months.
2) I’ll be opening very few commission slots until September, when I’m done with the project, with August (I can barely handle the heath), and pending projects.
3) There one main way to commission me though, and it will be by attending Furality Ultra 🔥 since I’ll be a dealer at that event. (I’ll upload my booth the day before the event officially begins, I’m working on it, heh). It was something I had already applied to and I’m working on a new price sheet for the day. My focus would be digital general character art though.
Now, some rambling about the situation.
The video game thing is a project that fills me with joy, I will be working on the painting style for the backgrounds, designing the characters and making the pencils drawings for all character art of this first stage. It revolves around troubled humans, and I love drawing troubled humans and paintery backgrounds.
However it’s been a bit of a drag to get to this point coordination wise. I’ve been talking to the studio since last year. We finally came to an agreement right after Ibercon, but not on the starting date. Since August, what I’ve been told is that they wanted to start working on this project as soon as possible which made me very nervous each time trying to reorganise everything or trying to find time for that, just to stop communication and to come back after a month or more. The ideal moment to start would have been on September last year, but it didn’t happen. At many point I thought they ghosted me and looked for a different artist, but they came back last week, had finally some clearer communication, and we agreed on starting on Monday. It is very rushed but at this point I just want this to get it over as soon as possible.
I understand the studio, it’s a small group of people that work on indie games and have to do many things at the same time, but I’m allowing myself to feel bothered by how things have been handled until this point. Still, I’m happy to work on this project because I like the tone of the story, the style choices and to be able to work on a video game for the first time.
On a different note, I started writing this on Saturday, when I was on my way to my boyfriends house to help him host a gathering for his birthday. My intention was to post it before beginning but once I got there, I was totally invested in the event and the next day I was exhausted and sick. I’ve been feeling sick until yesterday, and the rising temperatures make it worse.
Today I’m finally feeling better, tho grumpy, with a runny nose and sore eyes.
I think there I meant to write a little more about little else, but I forgot and this is long enough already. I remember I was feeling scared about beginning with the video game thing, because I thought it would take me a looot of time and dramatically change my days very suddenly. But I’m not anymore, I’ll just see how it goes during this first week and I’ll let you know in more realistic terms about these changes.
Here are some more updated WIPS of the progress I was able to make the last couple days.
Have a good week 🌟.
