Studies for “January” take up the bulk of the page, wherein Juno consoles her friend Petra, who’s going through some substantial grief. Showing up for a friend in these moments is one of the most meaningful and sincere acts of love, and my original description for the upload borrowed a sentiment from David Foster Wallace: “There might not be angels, but there are people who might as well be.” Sometimes it takes a while to happen across them, but I promise it makes all the other insufferable bullshit worthwhile. Toaster bath is not a solution.
In the upper left, there’s a loosely constructed scene of a fox girl on the threshold of a screened porch, greeting her friend as a thunderhead looms behind, naked with all the blithe abandon of a summer in the country. I see it vividly in my head. Then there’s Chona doing a genet dance, Kal infatuated with a bear shaman, and a smattering of genital studies.
As a note, the date in the title is the date each page was started. I keep them organized in a vaguely sane manner just by naming the files after that date -- and it's worked so far!
