Sketchbook (PAGE 11)
DESCRIPTION

Right away, this page has a little piece to appeal to Foxer421! This was a bit of birthday art, and for drawings that don’t necessarily need to be super high-res I’ll finish them up directly on the sketch page. Which removes some of the intimidation of opening up a whole new blank canvas…

Brandy (the porcupine) also shows up, flopped on the couch in a pretty provocative way. This one got the full-color treatment (FA | e621).

We’ve also got an urban chic raccoon girl showing off her clubbing outfit. A dress code for mammals. The eyeliner still goes on and she’s tamed every flyaway hair. Maybe there’s even a little lavender lip gloss. Her clutch carries a restrained decadence and plays off her glittery choker. All of which is why her toplessness feels (to me) like such a dissonance -- she can only do so much to curate that natural mammalian display, and so maybe it becomes a deliberate rejection of that kind of curation when she choose to just leave the girls out. And well, a large part of my affinity for nudity (partial or complete) is this kind of surrender to vulnerability. The “pretty animal” theme I tried out with this raccoon is one I’d love to revisit with a better handle on where exactly I want that dissonance to lie.

At the bottom there are some prep sketches “Lost Woods Juno” where she’s in her rare moth-fairy form and coming in for an enthusiastic landing (FA | e621).

Just got back from FWA last weekend with renewed inspiration! I just need to get past the sleep deprivation.
