This page has a little explorative color thumbnail with Juno looking extra trippy. The stars also look like they’re falling down from the sky and she's characteristically oblivious. Or maybe she knows she's just seeing things. There’s a lot I love about this color sketch, and there’s something essentially “Juno” in there that I want to revisit.
In a couple places there’s sketches for “Feast of the First Moon” (FA | e621), featuring my genet, Topaz. She’s sporting an unfossilized dromaeosaur skull, which hints at a world where dinosaurs live amongst them. Cool! I never really followed up on this -- not because I don’t think dinos are rad, but that whole setting took a pretty serious backseat to other areas I wanted to explore. And sadly I haven’t drawn a finished piece with Topaz since.
This whole “First Moon” thing feels a little half-baked to me now, and more like it was drawn from the well of generic fantasy names that “get the job done” and not much more. I’ve since tried to lean into personal experience when doing any amount of naming or worldbuilding because the world out there is built on layers that kind of speak to depth and mystery and other unknowable stuff. Plus, I’m not really smart enough to be writing whole histories and etymologies.
Elsewhere on the page, Juno’s doing some naked shopping with an especially long-necked seal, and there's a POV dental examination that turned into a YCH. I’m currently working on a piece with Juno in a clothing-optional market, so look forward to that soon...
