The Nambassa market technically exists all year, but in the warmer months it really livens up. The grass dries out and gets trampled into submission, and the whole place feels less provisional. Of course you can’t do much about the heat outright, but you can kind of make arrangements to deal with it. There’s a small dignity in that that I like. And I suppose in this way, preparing for the arrival of a new season can feel almost ceremonial in nature.
This was a real return to the deliberately limited color palette I like so much in “Pools”, just shifted a little warmer. Even though Juno’s fur is stereotypically fox-orange, I made an effort to avoid symbol color choices (like painting the sky blue or the leaves green). I tried to pick inviting colors that you could comfortably sink into. Hopefully without being too oppressively monochromatic, but you tell me.
