Well, I can't say I'm going to miss it haha.
I didn't hate this show. In fact, at the beginning, I was very on board. There were a lot of fun ideas and some interesting twists on classic stories. Never forget, the entire series opened with the characters reciting the Dark Phoenix Saga verbatim.
The creators' love for the X-Men has always been clear. Even to the very end, the choice to focus on Moira and Proteus (and/or Legion) was inspired. I really respect that they were willing to deliver a story that almost no one else focused on.
That said, I really wish I enjoyed the experience of watching more. I don't know if its because of my unfamiliarity with anime, or if this one was just particularly odd, but I could never shake the feeling that I was always waiting for something to happen.
Somewhere out there, I'm sure somebody has edited this down to a truly stellar film that includes all the neat ideas, fun characterization, and delightful villains, all while coming in at a crisp 2 hours.
But, as is, the best thing I can say about this show is that I REALLY want this Inner Circle in a book.
As always, the series may end but ReaX continues. Just...possibly in a different form.
