The joke is I'm talking about the Tofu.

Genuinely, the sheer variety of this show's content never fails to impress me. How can these two alien-centric episodes differ so much?? The first is a light-hearted Beast Boy spotlight that puts more emphasis on a moped than anything resembling coherent plot. The second is a genuine attempt at racial allegory.

I will say, I don't think I liked this episode as much as most fans of this show. It might be because I'm watching for the first time as an adult, or because I'm just very very used to fictional oppression tropes haha. Either way, it felt entirely passable. Though, I would have preferred a similar story featuring Cyborg dealing with actual racism.

I think its a little odd that people can not just tolerate, but champion, a story about fictional oppression while thinking the real deal is too "serious" or "adult." It's the same message and moral, just more relatable to people actually experiencing the issue at hand.

But now I'm just on a soapbox haha. The season remains incredibly strong and I'm excited to see what the back half has in store.
