heyo! this post is a lot further on the logistical side of things than usual, buuut discord has posed a pretty significant elephant that i wanna address before it gets too close!
discordsooo, for anyone not aware, discord is going to be implementing a pretty controversial age verification policy on the 1st of march. anyone who wants to join an NSFW server will either have to submit their government id or a facial scan... which is extremely suspect, especially after discord has just been the victim of a data hack that's exposed the data it already had on thousands of its users!
the main issue for us, of course, is that most of my perks for the higher tiers on this patreon revolve around my NSFW discord server! i personally refuse to give any of my irl identification to discord, including my face, and of course that should go for you guys as well!
sooooo, my plan for the time being is to see how things work out on march 1st. my hope is that it's very easy to trick whatever facial recognition software there is, or failing that, that there's some other simply workaround (some lovely souls already on there have already found links to tools that i'll be testing out on the day). if i do find some reliable trick, i'll post it here on the 1st of march, and we'll be able to keep running as usual!
until then, i'll be doing a bit of research into viable alternatives (feel free to drop any suggestions in the comments below!), in case the tricks don't work or are too complicated for most people to figure out. my fingers are crossed that we won't need them, but if we do, i'll be glad to have them!
anyway, that's about it for the discord side of things! i'll keep you guys posted!
