Frank, an American airman, parachutes into occupied France after his B-17 is shot down. Seeking refuge, he finds shelter in a convent, where the nuns help him evade capture by disguising him as a novice nun named Francine. Initially, the disguise is a means of survival, but as weeks turn into months, Francine begins to embrace the identity, adapting to convent life and discovering an unexpected sense of belonging.

As the war progresses, Francine grows more comfortable in her new identity, questioning whether she can return to being Frank. When the French Resistance offers a chance to escape back to Allied territory, she feels conflicted but ultimately leaves the convent. Back with the U.S. military, she struggles to reconcile her past and present selves. After much reflection, she requests an honorable discharge and later joins the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), using her unique experiences to aid the war effort.
