Hello All,
I thought I would give you an update as to how the next installment of HEROES OF CELTICA is going. I am still plugging away at the images while the writing is happening side-by-side. I tried to write the story first, but I've been writing to images ever since STELLAR INCOGNITA, so this little workflow experiment has taught me to stick with what I know. I have no ETA for when the next update will come, but when I do know, I will inform you all.
Now, sometimes I play other adult games that are available, many of them with Patreon and Subscribestar accounts. One of the things I see often are games that start off with a lot of promise and then get abandoned. There is one I particularly enjoyed that seems to be sharing that fate as of April. A related issue are games that get established and then get 'milked' with minimal content in subsequent updates. As a player of games myself, I do find that disappointing. It's even more egregious when a creator abandons a game and then starts on a new game soon after! Then another issue is great games that come out as "v.0.0.1" or "Demo" only to disappear completely - I suppose because the creator didn't get enough paying supporters to think they could continue? But it takes time to build a supporter base and you have to show your commitment as a creator.
So this did give me a moment of introspection and made me ask myself why I was so confident that this would never be me? Why am I committed? The answer wasn't that hard to find. First, I like playing certain adult games myself, but I couldn't find something that was my 'perfect game' filled with characters and themes that I like. Some are good (maybe great), but nothing is ever close to 'perfect' for me. So I make STELLAR INCOGNITA and CELTICA because they are closer to the 'perfect' games I want to play myself, but I still think I am not close to that perfect game. Maybe the next project...
One of the shortcomings I had to deal with, as you know, was a low-end PC rig that didn't do enough justice to the rendered images of my games. That's OK, because it can't be helped and images are not everything if the game is fun, but they sure are an important part of the overall experience! I've been looking at used 4080 Supers recently and I think I can get the funds together to get one. Even though CELTICA is my focus right now in the evenings after getting home from work, I am also looking to the future!
