If you’ve been following our journey for a while, you’ll know this is not a post we ever imagined writing lightly.
For months now, we’ve been carrying a secret. Not because we didn’t want to share it with you, but because, quite honestly, we were scared…in the first couple months we continued filming and shooting our episodes plus AN ENTIRE YEAR of our VIP photoshoots for you guys… but with hope & anxiety living side by side the whole time.
After five heartbreaking pregnancy losses, including a rare and traumatic scar ectopic pregnancy, we found ourselves approaching this pregnancy very differently. The excitement was there, of course, but it was accompanied by a level of caution and anxiety that only comes from having experienced loss before.
Added to that, both of our boys arrived early. Josh and Noah each brought their own pregnancy complications and premature births, meaning this pregnancy has always been considered high-risk from the very beginning.
For a long time, every scan felt like a hurdle. Every milestone felt fragile. We found ourselves waiting for the next appointment, the next reassurance, the next piece of good news before feeling ready to talk about it publicly.
But now, with mum and baby safe and sound, we can FINALLY tell you guys why we’ve quietly disappeared from Greece and why life has looked so different behind the scenes these past few months…
Many of you will have noticed that our content has been running several months behind real life. That wasn’t accidental. We needed time and privacy to make some enormous decisions and execute an even bigger plan.
Getting Laura back to the UK for specialist NHS care and high-risk monitoring was no small task. It meant making some difficult choices, temporarily stepping away from our floating home, navigating international travel, relocating the family, moving pets, changing routines and creating a support system that would give both mum and baby the best possible chance.
Alongside that, we had residency applications to make, a boat to haul out and secure, countless appointments and scans to attend, and an enormous amount of planning to coordinate before we even left Greece. Then, after arriving in the UK, there has been a whole new chapter waiting for us - re-establishing a home, reconnecting with healthcare services, settling the boys, continuing monitoring, and trying to create some normality amongst the chaos.
It has been one of the biggest logistical challenges we’ve faced since becoming liveaboards.
The reality is that for the foreseeable future, we’ll be spending some time on land before eventually returning to the sea as a family of five.
That sentence still feels surreal to write.
Many of you have supported us through years of adventures, challenges, storms, boat projects, life changes and some of the darkest moments our family has faced. You’ve celebrated our highs and carried us through our lows, and we genuinely don’t take that for granted.
So thank you for your patience while we’ve kept this close to our hearts. Thank you for continuing to support our family while we’ve navigated one of the most emotional and complicated periods of our lives…
It’s been quite the adventure already.
And we’re so grateful to have you along for the next chapter.
With love,
Laura, Ross, Josh, Noah… and one very special little passenger ❤️
