LOG-006."And what is this?""A…a sandwich?""Yes! Very good! Would you like to try it?""...Yeah."A glance towards the human doctor hovering on the other side of the bed was rewarded with an approving nod, and as the Kyra'meta child hesitantly held her hands out, I allowed the foodstuff to drop from my hands into her own.Straightening back up to my full height as the girl began to munch on the sandwich with all the elegant grace I expected from a Na'vi child (that being none, obviously), I stepped away from the bed, followed by the surgeon mask clad man a second later."The latest treatment was a success, she'll be making a full recovery so long as things stay as steady as they have been."Glancing back towards the kid (a young brat by the name of H'miti), I sighed softly, lowering my voice to match the doctor's own even as I gave a small nod."Good…that's good. All of this has been rough on the children, but at least they seem to be taking it relatively well."A sudden clamour from outside the room and down the hall drew both our attention, prompting another, longer sigh to emerge from my throat."Better than the adults at least. Ugh, I'll be back with you in a few moments Fred."The man gave me a thumbs up even as I stepped through the doorway, marching towards the sound of arguing with narrowed eyes.—"No! Get away from me you-Opal!"My expression likely appeared wonderfully deadpan upon entering the room, locking gazes with a pair of masked surgeons, an exasperated Grace (in her avatar today, it seemed), and a distinctly irate looking K'seeli, even as I shifted back into Na'vi rather than English."K'seeli, why am I hearing shouting?"The huntress hissed as one of the men warily stepped back, a tubed breathing mask in his hand, before turning back to look at me.At least up until her eyes lowered slightly."...What are you wearing? What is that?"Blinking, I looked downwards towards my chest, lifting a hand and idly pinching at the amazingly comfortable white material currently preserving my modesty."Oh this? The humans call it a leotard. Do you like it?"Amusingly enough, the sensation of pants had actually been distracting enough on my thighs that I'd settled for just continuing to wear my usual Na'vi style skirt, but the compression of something resembling a proper shirt just couldn't be beat, especially when the competition was effectively rags. Not that K'seeli seemed to think so, her eyes narrowing in befuddlement as she continued to stare at me."It looks silly."Frowning and rearing back slightly, I pat my chest with a huff."It looks refined, thank you very much. Now, answer the question. Why are people arguing in here?"It was Grace that stepped forward at that, raising her hands slightly as K'seeli crossed her arms with a huff of her own."We're trying to put her under prior to stomach pumping, but she refuses to let us do anything without you, the Tsahìk's approval."Turning back towards the stubborn huntress, the doctor tried for a pleading expression, conveniently keeping her from seeing me begin to stalk forward."Look K'seeli, I know this is new and…and alien. Believe me, I've gotten used to that kind of reaction, but you all came to us for help, and that's what we're trying to do here-"The words cut off as one of my kuru lunged forward, promptly silencing the false Na'vi and drawing a yelp from the old lady in the bed as it smacked her nose."K'seeli! Let them fix you or so help me Eywa I will have you wearing a leotard too!"The huntress hissed in response, only to stiffen back against the pillow propping her head up as I leaned forward, hair splaying outwards and an insidious hiss of my own ripping through the air, coupled by the usual lightshow of my threat display."What the…"Ignoring Grace's amazed tone, I planted a hand against the edge of the bed, glaring my counterpart down."I am your Tsahìk! Olo'eyktan is dead! The elders are dead! It is through my choices that this clan still lives, and that it will continue to live! So do not think to test me, huntress!"The white light managed to make K'seeli look slightly paler, even as she held her own combative expression for a few seconds before putting her fangs away, ears folding back slightly in a clear sign of submission."I…fine. But only because you are Tsahìk."Staring her down for another moment, I turned to the surgeon with the mask, waving him forward.Pupils that had narrowed into all but slits (identical to my own, most likely) continued to stare at me, even as the rebreather-type setup was sealed over the Na'vi's face, ears folding down slightly as she began to take in rapid breaths.Stepping forward and past grace with a grunt, I grabbed at the huntress's tightly clenched hand, pawing at it until she opened up her fingers and allowed me to grasp it properly."Deep breaths, K'seeli. I'll watch over you while you're asleep."The almost painful grip on my palm slowly lessened, slit pupils widening back into something slightly less frightened as a flicker of trust faded back into the woman's eyes, right before they finally shut a moment letter, her hand going limp along with them.Holding the limb, I gave it a soft pat before letting go, turning to glance at a silent Grace even as the two men presumably got to work behind me."...What are you looking at?"The doctor's chest rose and fell slightly quicker than what seemed to be normal, enough to be noticeable at least, even as she raised a finger to point at me with a curiously excited tone to her voice."Can I touch your hair?"Blinking, I brought up a hand to grasp one of the slowly darkening strands, the glow beginning to leave them now that I wasn't focusing on being all bright and scary."I don't know, can you?"The question prompted a snort from the woman, a humorous glint in her eyes."God, you still need to tell me where exactly you picked up English, you know."Waving a hand at her, I crossed my arms with a grin, even as I kept a careful view of K'seeli's unconscious form."Oh I have my ways, doctor Augustine. Perhaps you can bribe me for them?"The immediate exasperation that fell into my counterpart's voice was like music to my ears."You can't be serious.""You know what I want, doctor.""You'll tell me how you know English for a burrito.""Yes.""There wasn't even a hint of hesitation there.""Also yes.""Good God, Opal."Good God indeed. Not exactly a fair trade, since I'd be lying to her, but what Grace didn't know wouldn't hurt her, in this case. Plus it made me look cute, which was important.Cute cat girls were great at convincing people of things, after all.
