LOG-009."Where are you, where the damned hell are you…"My eyes remained narrowed as I searched through the treeline, trying to spot any hint of the supposed school that was meant to be sitting around here, assuming the map I'd been given was to be believed. But I couldn't see anything. Maybe it was the darkness, or maybe I was just being stupid-"My Tsahìk! Down there!"Whipping my head around to stare down at the direction indicated by one of my hunters, my eyes widened slightly as my objective came into view."Good spotting! Land! Land and secure the ground!"The words were more for the benefit of my fellow Na'vi than Alfa, considering the Ikran knew what I intended the second I thought it. Courtesy of Tsaheylu. Regardless, soon enough we were diving downwards, the beast pulling up his wings just in time to turn a crash into a landing.I was already dismounting by the time the others had gotten on their feet, marching up towards the (honestly rather endearing looking) school, noting the eyes watching me from a few of the windows which rapidly fled from sight the second they noticed me staring back.Soon enough, I was at a closed door. And with one glance sent back towards my fellow clanmates, I did the only reasonable thing I could in this situation, really."Grace? Grace this is Opal! Open the door!"The words were punctuated by a solid rapping of knuckles against wood, repeated three times. Then again upon a lack of response.I was preparing for a slightly more aggressive series of knocks when the door opened, a familiarly humanish Na'vi face staring back at me in surprise as I locked eyes with her."Opal? What are you doing-what is this? The kids came rushing in babbling about a machine and-"It was with some trepidation that I finally took in the 'insurgents' Quaritch had been so eager to sic both me and his men on."We need to talk, outside."Children, as expected. Perhaps a few teenagers on the cusp of adulthood among them, but still mostly children, all hiding in a classroom. Perhaps earlier in my life, I would have frowned a little at the way they flinched back at the sheer sight of me, but I'd long since grown used to being judged for being the wrong shade of blue."...Alright. Mind stepping out of the way?"Snapping back to reality, I complied with the doctor's request, moving aside and letting her hesitantly walk out, notably closing the door behind her as she did so.—"Oh my God, so they-""Yeah. Sec ops were trying to find them when I offered up me and my hunters for tracking em' down instead. Suffice to say, this is a right mess your students have got themselves in."Grace stared at me for a long moment, settled as she was on a bench that had evidently been constructed outside of the school using twigs and vines at some point, before letting out a long sigh."...Well hopefully the damage isn't too bad. I seriously question whether anything they might have done to that bulldozer really stuck. Just…just give me a moment, okay?"Nodding, I stood back as the doctor got up and moved towards the school, calling out a few names, some I recognised, and some I didn't.As a bunch of small forms emerged from the structure, I idly exchanged a glance with some of my loitering clanmates, none of them seeming particularly enthused to be here, before reaching for my flak vest, and more importantly, the radio strapped to it."Papa Dragon this is Blue Actual, am I using this correctly?"There was a faint crackle for a long moment, before a familiar voice finally responded."Blue Actual, Papa Dragon here, you're doing fine. What's the sitrep?"Staring as a now visibly annoyed Grace continued to chastise what I was fairly certain was supposed to be Neytiri's older sister, who looked to be arguing back, I sighed."You made the right call sending us in Colonel. Just a bunch of stupid kids, doctor Augustine is talking to them now. Should we just sit tight and let her handle this or…?"Another moment of silence, before a different voice seemingly took over the call."Opal this is Parker, tell Augustine that she's free to take things from here, but that the damage is coming out of HER paycheck, got it!?"Blinking at the command, I watched one of the children continue to watch me for a second, before clicking my tongue."Roger that, I'll let her know. Blue Actual out. Or…wait is that the proper radio procedure or-"It was Quaritch that answered, sounding more tired than anything."Just cut the line Blue Actual, you're fine."Nodding to myself, I did as instructed before toggling the handy little device back off, leaving it strapped to my chest, then turned and promptly had to resist leaping backwards a few feet as my brain automatically went back from English to Na'vi."Skxawng! Don't get so close to me!"Inquisitive yellow eyes pulled back a little from where the blue child had been watching me, her ears folding back in response to my reproachful tone.Staring down the kid for a moment and noting that the argument between Grace and the presumed leader of the arsonists seemed to be slowly winding down, notably with the teenager all but falling into the doctor's arms and tearing up, I hesitantly waved a hand."...I'm Opal. Nice to meet you?"The little (well, by our standards, anyway) one mimicked the gesture, doing the usual thing strangers did and staring at my damned kuru as she did so."I'm Neytiri…you look weird!"The comment prompted my lips to curl downward, even as several of the nearby Kyra'meta burst out into chuckles, which were barely stifled as I turned to glare at them before glancing back to the blunt little shit speaking to me."Yes, I've been told that.""And you wear sky people's clothes!""That too.""And you know sa'nok!"Oh…that was actually kind of adorable. I'd forgotten the students called Grace mother."Uh, yep. Also that."…Damn if it hadn't been a while since I'd last watched a movie. Did people still use netflix?"Why do you have two kuru!? Can I see them!?"Oh come on man leave em' alone! Who gave you sugar!?
