LOG-023.Naturally, there was a bit of a kerfuffle after everything was said and done. Sec ops was still on high alert after having a literal army of alien creatures surround what they had previously thought to be humanity’s unassailable fortress upon Pandora, and just about everyone was suitably freaked out enough that a level of work was required to get things back in order. The workers needed to be reassured, the science geeks needed to be told to sit tight instead of running off to try and study any dropping left behind or whatever else they did when Pandoran wildlife came and went. And the marines needed a good minute to stop white knuckling their damn guns long enough to be convinced that no, they were not making a glorious but nonetheless desperate last stand today.Yeah. From there…well, to say that the RDA had questions for me could very well take its place as one of the top contenders for the understatement of the century.Actually having Grace arrive, in her avatar no less, and physically grab hold of me before begging to be told about what I’d seen had been funny at least. And Quaritch immediately going full survival mode and trying to figure out how fucked we were had been predictable, if tiring. And as for Parker…“Alright, it’s just us for now. I mean-we’ll probably need to bring in everyone else on whatever it is you tell me but, I’ll handle that part. Alright?”Well, Parker was being surprisingly sweet about things, and had pushed to support me after I’d asked for just a little bit of space before I started taking interviews. The fact that we’d reconvened in his bedroom was a funny little consequence of that, but I couldn’t say the place wasn’t comfortable, leaving me to relax slightly and sit back on the plush mattress while my partner in crime went about pouring out what was left of some glorified bottled fruit juice into a pair of fancy looking glasses.Accepting one from the man, I watched him reach out and pull over a chair from his little work desk with his free hand, before twisting it about and taking his place across from me, one arm hanging over what should have been the backrest, while the other cradled his drink.A moment passed like that, with me staring silently and Parker fidgeting slightly as he presumably tried to figure out what to say.As had become the trend as of late, at least whenever something like that happened, I took charge, bringing my glass to my lips, taking a brief sip, and nodding my head as I started things up.“So we kind of have the opportunity to become the craziest power couple to ever power couple.”The words prompted my counterpart to abort his own sip, coughing briefly into his fist before getting a hold of himself, leaning forward as he did so.“Hkc-hck, ah fuck. Uh, okay? Okay. Can you…elaborate on that?”Sighing, I stared down into the crimson red liquid gently resting within my glass, before looking back up, staring Partner in the eyes as I did so.“Right. So Eywa, you know, the moon spanning network that controls all the trees, animals, and probably everything else?”At his nod, I gestured to myself with the drink, the cold material briefly pressing against my neck until I pulled it back forward.“Turns out, our mining efforts are kind of lobotomising her. That’s the bad news.”Pressing forward before Parker’s sharp intake of breath could escalate into questions, I did my best to sound cheery, smiling at the man. “The good news is that she apparently knows how to make more of the stuff, alongside a whole bunch of other crap she’s willing to sell us, which we can then sell to other people. Like, really, really profitable crap. Stuff that could propel you and me to the tippy top of the board of directors, if we play our cards right.”If I hadn’t had his attention before, I did now, as my boyfriend’s expression grew blatantly intrigued, his head tilting ever so slightly as he gestured at me with his glass.“Well…that sounds…good. Can you list off some of this ‘crap’ then?”Keeping my expression carefully neutral, and my voice as casual as possible, I raised a hand, waiting just long enough for Parker’s temptation to give out.As the man began to take another sip, I listed off a few possibilities with my fingers.“Functional immortality. Planetary terraforming. Custom genetic modifications and organic lifeforms-”Pausing as the corporate stooge damn near spat out his drink, glaring at me in between his latest coughing fit, I smiled smugly, and waited.A minute later and he had gotten a little bit of control over himself, even if a part of his lovely white shirt had been stained red, not that it seemed to stop him from focusing on the task at hand.“Okay, that…we’re gonna need proof. So much fucking proof. But if any of what you just said isn’t bullshit…”I grinned, baring my fangs. The fact that I knew for a fact my counterpart loved it when I showed them off was just a bonus, naturally.“Then you’re gonna make your father’s successes in the RDA look like entry level groundwork, I’m gonna become both corporate and Na’vi royalty, and, like I said, we’re gonna be the craziest power couple to ever power couple.”Tilting my head as I leaned back slightly, I lessened my feral expression back to a simple smile, tail languidly swishing back and forth behind me as Parker nodded along, ambition practically shining in his eyes.“So, corporate boytoy of mine…ready to get started?”His answer, naturally, was exactly what I’d been expecting, leaving me with a wonderful feeling of satisfaction budding up somewhere within my chest.“Oh abso-fucking-lutely. Let’s get rich!”Setting my glass aside, I shot the man a lidded stare.“Good, now take off your shirt, you look like you got stabbed or something.”“As I recall, that’s kind of your fault-”“Neener neener we’ll bang okay.”“...Right so I’m gonna take my shirt off-”“Good boytoy!”“Oh fuck off!”
