LOG-014.
The Gamma Legion had been losing. Keyword being had.
"Knightmaaare! You bastaaaard!"
With a single punch I had reinvigorated the teeming mass of convicts, rallying calls and battle lust fueled warcries filling the airstrip I'd found myself in, even as a blur of blue flew at me, even as Red seemingly lost the battle against unconsciousness and finally went limp.
"Hands off blue boy! He's mine!"
Ominous words to be certain, but I shook off the promise of assassination for now, if only because the Warden that had just been aiming to kick my head off was abruptly halted by a mass of strings shot forth by none other than Lovelace, the General's painted on smile growing as she began to spin.
"WooahhooahoahaohaaA-"
Watching Blue's form sail off into the distance before colliding with a group fo skirmishing Guards and Grunts, I heeded the scream of my finely honed combat instincts, raising an arm just in time to catch a punch that had more than a bit of weight behind it.
Turning, I stared down the…robotic Warden, that had just tried to clock my lights out, even as its glowing blue visor flashed threateningly.
"You Are Under Arrest!"
By all means, with the power of the strike, I should have been feeling no small amount of pain in my forearm. Bruises, at the very least. If not an outright broken bone.
But I was wearing a badge, and with that badge evidently came enhancements.
"I think not."
I punctuated the statement by lashing out with a kick, catching the machine in the side of the torso and sending it hurtling into a particularly unfortunate Green Warden, even as another pair of grey droids moved to rush me.
Raising my fists, I readied myself for a brawl, only to pause as a flicker of white light floated between the pair, seemingly chasing a beetle of all things.
"Halt Evildoer! You Are Under Arrest!"
Staring at the two machines, I slowly raised my hands upwards, even as a familiar shape began to grow behind the robots.
"I surrender."
It'd be comical if the two had looked at each other in hesitation or something, but they didn't get the chance to, as their mechanical heads were grabbed in great, mighty talons that promptly slammed the two faux helmets together, crushing them to pieces.
"Still up to your old tricks I see, Equis!"
Smirking beneath my own helmet at the gargantuan, heavily armoured bug currently wiping off stray bits of circuitry from his hands, I lowered my arms and shrugged.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it. Good to see you back in the shell, General Carapace."
The enormous beetle's beady eyes blinked in mirth at that, insectoid wings buzzing from his back, before he abruptly slapped a hand across his head.
"Ah I forgot, you go by Knightmare now! Oh, to think I missed my favourite Lieutenant's rise through the ranks-!"
In the same breath of his exclamation, he reached out and grabbed a charging Guard, holding the struggling officer up just long enough for him to realise the mistake of his ways, before hurling him into a reinforcing squad of his compatriots that had just dropped out of a descending aero shuttle, sending the lot of them crashing back into the depths of the transport.
"We have a lot of catching up to do, I'm afraid. Ready to blow this joint?"
I turned in time with the question, noting that a distinctly jittery Lovelace had sidled up next to us in the brief calm, even as the rest of the battle raged around us. Pissed off that I was alive, no doubt.
My rotation stopped as my visor matched gazes with another one, the Warden that owned it looking at us for a long moment, even as three Generals stepped forward in preparation for a fight, clearly intent on going through the jailer, if needed.
Then Pink promptly raised both of her hands, fingers extending out into a pair of peace signs as she hastily stepped out of the way.
"I do this job to pay the rent! Not to get my butt beat! Cya!"
And just like that, she converted the retreat into an aggressive assault on a pair of Grunts that had been trying to rip a downed robot in half, leaving the path ahead of us largely open.
"GAMMA LEGIONNAIRES! THE DAY IS OURS! WITHDRAWWWWW!"
Hearing Armageddon's familiar cadence, I turned to see the Lord himself pulling a pair of unconscious Generals (recently manifested, judging by the fact that I didn't recognise their forms) into a defaced, Legion branded aero shuttle, its doors sliding shut just as the vehicle began to take off.
"General! We missed you!
"Yeah! But we knew you'd be back!"
I graced Shellshock and Chandelierra's abrupt appearance with a nod, even as another aero shuttle descended right in front of us, one of hundreds that were pouring out from the Animus hovering form like a swarm of angry wasps, some dueling in the air with Warden shuttles while others focused on evacuation.
Rolling a shoulder (both to work out the kink in it and ward off the stray string Lovelace had evidently been using to try and get a grip on me with), I strode inside of the transport, exchanging a high five with one of the Grunts waiting inside, even as the two Generals and two Commanders followed me in.
"Pilot, get us the heck out of here!"
"Hup hup!"
Watching as the ground began to grow further and further away, I took in the sight of the devastated airport, only to flinch at a pair of black, taloned fingers clutching at the edge of the aero shuttle's frame.
"Don't! Leave! Me! With those stupid Mecha-Wardens!"
Before I could so much as respond, Carapace jolted forward with a boisterous laugh, massive mitts grasping the owner of the fingers by the forearm, before physically lifting her into the rapidly accelerating vehicle.
"Niece! How good it is to see you again!"
Chrysalis, appearing more than a little bedraggled, with a seemingly malfunctioning (and thankfully severed) robotic hand still gripping tightly onto a part of her hair, sighed loudly.
"Hello uncle-eep!"
Grinning as the smaller General was promptly pulled into an exoskeleton crushing embrace by her larger counterpart, I stepped back right as the shuttle's doors closed, desperately ignoring Lovelace's seething glare, directed somewhere at my lower back as the General no doubt plotted how she'd achieve my demise now that I'd returned.
"Holy moly that's well fitting..."
Hah…what a day. And with many more to come, now that the Gamma Legion's numbers had swelled in size with so many freed prisoners. Prisoners who owed me a debt, and would no doubt support my bid for assuming total command of the Legion!
Soon! Soon I would be Gamma Lord! And not even the likes of Armageddon would be able to stop me!
MUAHAHAHAH-no, wait, still not appropriate yet! Not until I was fully in charge!
…Hehehehehehehehe. Yeah, that's better.
