On Friday, I attended a meeting for most of my day. During that meeting, it was becoming increasingly obvious that I was coming down with something. As my coworkers around me described the room as being freezing cold, I couldn't help but feel shock at how warm I felt. I touched my head and neck absentmindedly. Burning hot.
Fast forward to Saturday, where things began to slowly ramp up. I'm a stubborn person, so I chose to take a few Advil and move on with my day. Knowing myself, however, and that my birthday is quickly approaching, I decided to take any precautions I could to shorten whatever illness I had. I hydrated, tried to rest, and...
Woke up Sunday morning feeling like absolute shit. My head felt like it was going to explode, and I couldn't stop coughing. I did make my way out of the house briefly to grab some Dayquil/Nyquil, but I was miserable. No sneezing yet, though.
Now to yesterday. I took off work because I was worried I had a fever still, and that was when my sinuses decided they were going to attack me. Sometimes, taking off work isn't enough with online meetings and calls. There was a meeting I needed to attend for an hour, so I was called and added to it. You always hear those tropes about someone needing to mute their microphone to cough or sneeze- that was me. Except when I needed to add my input or was specifically mentioned by name, I remained muted due to my tickly, tickly nose. I don't sneeze very much naturally, so the three sneezes that came every 15 minutes or so felt slightly secretive and exhilarating. Of course, also while still feeling like shit. I needed to blow my nose constantly. If I didn't, the runniness would trigger another sneeze. It was a bit surreal, especially since I take pleasure in my own sneezes.
I went back to work today. Hidden away in my office (whenever there was a free moment without anyone needing me - far and few between), I continued to feel sneezy. I think I sneezed 3 or 4 times in the morning and twice in the afternoon. As I have described in previous self-observations, I like to let them out with their full power when my door is shut. Each small gleam of sunlight or rush of cold air seemed to create a whirlwind of tickles that sometimes were unable to come to fruition. That can be frustrating. However, I was happy with what I was able to release and still considered myself much more sneezy than usual :)
