You and I are on our first, maybe second date with one another. Our surroundings sell the idea that the restaurant could be in Italy itself. Low lighting; clean surfaces; quiet jazz. We keep our conversation to a minimum and choose to bask in the moment. Looking around, couples of all ages and stages of life fill the room. Despite the number of individuals, the space continues to rumble in only a hushed murmur of voices.
Our waiter is present. They check in frequently to ensure we're comfortable, take our food and drink order, and make light small talk. Once we decide on our entrees, excitement and hunger brew within us both. I wonder how the dishes will be presented and mentally prepare myself for the wonderful pasta that awaits me.
That is... until my nose has other ideas for the night...
