If you tried to add peds to GTA 5 Legacy you may have faced game crash/game auto close when loading story mode (or even when selecting a suit or playing for a while), this is a possible FIX for this issue:
Step 1 - Heap limit adjusterhttps://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heapadjuster
Extract the .asi file to your gta5.exe folder
Obs.: This is a .ASI script so, you need ASI Loader installed
Step 2 - Packet file limit adjusterhttps://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/packfile-limit-adjuster
Extract the files to your gta5.exe folder the same way you did with the files in step 1, it also needs ASI Loader installed.
Step 3 - Gameconfig.xmlhttps://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars
Video: https://youtu.be/ovethfgRLxU
-Open the ZIP file-Open the folder "Gta Config v36 for A Safehouse in the Hills" (or the folder with "Gta Config" in name, the names may change with time). Case your game is outdated, you should find the correct one in the folder "Old Versions" based in your gta5.exe file version)-Open the folder "For More Mods" (You also can try "For Less Mods" but it's recommended the other)-Open the folder "Stock Traffic (Means Gta base)" (or anything with text: "Means Gta base")-Extract the file "gameconfig.xml" to your desktop.
Now open the OpenIV app and navigate to: mods\update\update.rpf\common\data
*Important: If you don't have the file in mods folder you should navigate to:"update\update.rpf\common\data", click in the button "Edit mode" and then click in the indicated button to Copy the file to mods folder. *
-Click in the button "Edit mode"-Click in top menu New-Click in Add-Select the gameconfig.xml that we extracted to desktop in previous steps and click in Open
Extra step: "clothStore thing"
Video: https://youtu.be/-Cn5QQeq1eI
-Now, in OpenIV, right click the file gameconfig.xml that you just added and click in Edit-Press Ctrl+F and type "cloth" to search for the ClothStore setting-Edit the PoolSize value from 60 to 600 then click in Save to apply the changes
Special thanks to MTN4456 for this tip about the "clothStore thing" 😎
Step 4 - Removing recent official DLC packs
Obs.: This step can be done using the attached files of this post
Video: https://youtu.be/QurasdoPSEU
To increase the number of peds we can add to the game, we can try removing some official big DLC packs that adds peds, one example is the Cayo Perico Heist DLC that adds lot of peds, removing that dlc entry line from dlclist.xml will increase max. number of added peds.
To do this, right click the file dlclist.xml (that is located in mods\update\update.rpf\common\data), click in Edit and then find and remove the lines with the following entries:
mpheist4mptunermpsecuritympsum2mpsum2_g9ec
Then click in Save to save the file
If you don't use MP vehicles/peds/objects launched since 2023 in single player mode, you also can remove those entries:
mp2023_01, mp2023_01_g9ec, mp2023_02, mp2023_02_g9ec, mp2024_01, mp2024_01_g9ec, mp2024_02, mp2024_02_g9ec, mp2025_01, mp2025_01_g9ec, mp2025_02 and mp2025_02_g9ec
Step 5 (Optional) - Outdated update2.rpf
-Case you have update2.rpf in mods/update folder, you must delete it (rename it to update222.rpf instead, to keep as backup), there is no reason to have this file there, unless a mod that you installed uses it, probably not the case, some people manually copy this file to mods folder structure causing issues when game updates.
Done :)
If all goes well now you can run your game with added peds, props and vehicles without issues :)
Tip
There is a limit related to how many added peds with "working cape" (Cloth physics) you can have, so, test the game each time you add a ped with working cape (cloth physics) before install other stuff in sequence, actually it's good do this for each single change you make in game files, this way is easier identify what is causing issues.
