Shuuko is sitting on her couch thinking about where her daughter Shouko is. She's supposedly at home but she didn't see her all day. Little does she know that her daughter is actually really close to her, because she is right under her foot. She caught the shrinking virus and shrunk down to the size of someone's pinky toe this morning. She tried to get her mother's attention but she was so small on the floor that she didn't see her. This resulted in her mother stepping on her, leaving her stuck to her sock. She didn't feel her down there and was just enjoying her day, walking around in the house doing chores and stuff, completely unaware that she was stepping on her own daughter the whole time.
Fortunately, Shouko's body is really sturdy in this state and she was never hurt during all of this. But it doesn't really make the experience less unpleasant for her. The fact that you're stuck under someone's foot without them even realizing that you're here, especially if that someone is your own mother, and being too weak and pathetic in this state to get out of there is really a humiliating feeling. On top of that, Shuuko's sock became really stinky with all of the walking that she did, forcing her daughter to only breathe this strong, disgusting and foul smell. So the fact that she is stuck in a gross place like this and is unable to get away makes her really upset. All she can do at this point is hope that her mother eventually finds her...
