DESCRIPTION

This was the first figurine I added clay to - mostly because it was a pretty cheap and lightweight PVC model, rubbery and hard to break. I liked her pose, but disliked the clunky helmet hiding her face, so I didn't mind experimenting on this figure first. I considered removing the head and sculpting a face fully out of clay so she could be without her helmet, but I'll need more practice to pull that off.

This one took the clay surprisingly well, but I didn't have the right tools to really smooth the surface. I used Sculpey brand clay which is meant to be baked to fully harden it, but clearly can't do that without melting the base figure. It gets hard like candle wax when cold, so it seems very stable. I think it turned out pretty well for a first attempt, but also lots of room for improvement!
