New Details for the Human Models

We hope you're enjoying the Christmas/Anniversary event so far!

As you may know, due to time constraints, we decided to postpone the implementation of certain features to ensure the update would be ready by Christmas. This led to some aspects of the game that we weren’t fully satisfied with, including a few missing details related to the human models. We’re happy to announce that these have now been addressed, as we’ve had more time to do so. This teaser highlights some of the changes we’ve managed to implement so far.

Let’s start with the updated pre-placed corpses in SCP-096, SCP-049, and the Evacuation Shelter.

There were also two items that previously lacked thirdperson animation: SCP-1576 and the coin. While they might seem simple, both turned out to be trickier to implement than you might expect. The coin has two possible outcomes: heads and tails, but it only uses one animation. The coin’s movement is actually procedurally animated and synchronized with the hand’s motion.

SCP-1576 is unique because it temporarily switches the dominant hand to the left while being cranked. This required us to create a new framework to accommodate the hand switch. While the result isn’t perfect, we hope it’s good enough to meet your expectations.

We're also introducing a new type of animation called "flavor animations". These animations are applied on top of item animations, meaning they can play while an item is equipped. This required us to define specific conditions for when and how the animations can be blended. In most cases, the animation will only use the non-dominant hand if an item is being held. However, there are certain situations where the animation will not play at all. These include reloading guns or charging the MicroHID. So far, we have two flavor animations: picking up items and being blinded by a flashbang.

Finally, while it may not be immediately noticeable, we’ve slightly improved the running animations to better reflect the speeds at which in-game characters move.

That's it for today! We hope you enjoyed this teaser. We're expecting these changes to roll out after the Christmas/Anniversary event ends, or shortly thereafter.

Eugh.

Wait... Oh. Oh, that's just gross.

Tooth and Nail

Bay 125 - February Teaser

Our logistics department has been hard at work handling all outgoing and ingoing shipments to and from Site-02.

Here we have SITE-02 written in massive text on the wall, just in case you forget where you're working! The most tried and true method of combating unsanctioned amnestics or antimemetic hazards (Sadly, this won't do much against potentially incorrect axioms caused by semiontological anomalies).

There's a little maintenace office in the corner where our lead maintenance guy on the ground usually resides. Mr. Paterson, you might know him. That door is always locked, though. Don't even think about going in there (You can't).

And that elevator there leads to an upper sub-section of the zone. I'm sure you're all already familiar with the two anomalies who live down there.

Pocket Dimension Visual Polish

Today we bring you a look at an upcoming artistic overhaul to the Pocket Dimension, created and designed by Foodeater! Below you'll find a video showcasing the new space alongside Foodeater's input on the project. Please note that the content shown below is a preview and may not be final. We hope you enjoy!

Quote from Foodeater:

"I mentioned in the patreon stream we had a few days ago that I wanted to touch up pocket dimension since it was still the containment breach port. I guess I had a great idea, because I remade the whole thing in 2 days. I've now turned the pocket dimension into what looks like a living and breathing extension of 106, hence the movements of the walls, which looks almost organic. Of course, since this is just a visual rework, the pocket dimension still functions exactly the same.

Thanks to Sixxy who created a short ambient loop so quickly."

What could that sound be?

Keycard Rework Progress Report - Door Panels

We’re approaching the finish line for the Keycard Rework announced in our last post. If you missed it, here’s a quick summary:

Permissions have been simplified into three categories, each with four levels (ranging from 0 to 3):

Containment (represented by the Foundation logo)

Armory (represented by an icon of two pistols)

Admin (represented by a cogwheel icon)

Containment and Armory remain virtually unchanged from the previous system. However, the Admin category now grants access to:

Level 1: Intercom and Checkpoints

Level 2: Gates

Level 3: Warhead access

Today, we’re focusing on the keycard panels, which now display the aforementioned icons on their screens. Each panel shows three icons, but any non-required ones are grayed out. When attempting to scan a keycard with insufficient permissions, the panel will turn red and blink to indicate which permissions are missing. If all requirements are met, the panel will blink green.

Here’s an example in SCP-096’s chamber. Please note that viewmodel positioning and animations are subject to change.

An analogous system has been implemented for other keycard-protected items, such as generators, lockers, and the warhead.

We've also made changes to regular door panels. In an effort to minimize text, we've replaced much of it with icons and symbols.

Additionally, different door lock reasons are now represented by corresponding symbols, allowing you to see who or what locked the door.

SCP-127 — One More Feature...

As you saw in the last teaser, we've added grunting sounds to SCP-127. But if you thought that was everything, you'd be mistaken. SCP-127 will feature over 150 voice lines, each reacting to different in-game situations. 🍉We’re keeping the full details under wraps for now so players can discover them in-game, but in the meantime, enjoy this short presentation video showcasing some highlights!

"Well that was more than I expected, if you are reading this I hope you did enjoy!"
