Vehicle Info Editor v1.0 for BeamNG.drive
The goal of this project is simple: reduce the amount of time spent jumping between BeamNG, JSON files, spreadsheets, and testing sessions when setting up vehicles for Career Mode.
Vehicle Info Editor adds an in-game editor that allows you to create, edit, and update BeamNG info.json files directly from the UI. Instead of manually editing files and reloading the game to verify changes, most of the workflow can now be handled from a single tool inside BeamNG.
Config Editing
The editor allows you to modify config-specific information including:
Config name and description
Body style
Config type
Population settings
Vehicle value
Default paint assignments
It also supports editing generic vehicle information such as:
Brand
Country of origin
Year range
Derby class
Body style
Marketing slogan
Vehicle description
Automated Testing & Stat Generation
The editor can automatically run performance tests and write useful data directly back into the config's information file, including:
Horsepower
Torque
Weight
Weight-to-power ratio
Top speed
Acceleration
Braking performance
Drivetrain
Propulsion type
Fuel type
Transmission type
Bounding box dimensions
Off-road score
For larger projects, a Batch Testing system allows multiple configs to be queued and processed automatically. You can filter for untested vehicles, search through configs, and control how many tests run simultaneously.
Paint & Showroom Tools
The built-in paint editor allows paints to be:
Created
Edited
Deleted
Assigned as default paints
The mod also includes several workflow shortcuts, including quick access to:
The Showroom map
The Autotest map
The Screenshot Tool
This makes it much easier to generate vehicle images and verify presentation settings while working on a config.
This tool is especially useful for mod authors, Career Mode pack creators, and anyone maintaining a large collection of vehicle configurations that need proper BeamNG metadata.
As always, feedback is welcome. The goal is to continue improving the workflow and make Career Mode content creation faster, easier, and more consistent for everyone.
Transparency note: We are expecting this to be the final beta for the mod with a public free release in the coming month.
