My interpretation on the Classic fairy tale.
I'm treading carefully even though the original is public domain. There's some elements I couldn't draw cus' some of characters aren't in the original novel. I based her appearance on my own country's depiction of mermaids. Technically they are called Sirens but they are basically mermaids from where I'm from.
The process was straightforward but I was so busy with commissions, I couldn't spend a lot of time on this illustration. I do however figured out how to implement my desaturated style on broad daylight. Whenever I draw beach scenes, it's always colorful so it was nice to be in control of my art. There's a lot of things I could've have improved on but I was able to learn and experiment while in the process of making this illustration.
I don't know what my next semi-original illustration will be. I'm welcome to any suggestions; personally, I'm looking at Sneewittchen and a classic Victor Hugo novel.
