DESCRIPTION

Hi all,

Time for a development update.

I apologise in advance if my tone sounds dejected. The past week or so I’m having a real rough time sleeping, clocking at most four hours a night and, at worst, about 30 minutes. I figured once I got a Steam approval, that my anxieties would fade away. Turns out they just transformed from anxieties about being rejected into anxieties about how well the game is going to be received on Steam. Oh well, hopefully those anxieties will fade away on release in a couple of weeks and just leave me with the rest (the “argh fuck, I’ve still got so much to do for Chapter 10”).

So yeah, the imminent Steam release is obviously the main thing going on right now. Before the release I was already just past the wishlist target that I had hoped to hit when I first put the store page up almost a year ago. Since the approval and release date announcement, my figures have SHOT up. I’m feeling a lot more confident that the release may actually do ok.

I’m not entirely confident on how the process works, so take me with a grain of salt, but I believe you need to have a certain number of wishlists before you hit the “popular upcoming games” feed on Steam. Once you’re on there, your wishlists should increase even more. The more you have and the closer your release date is, the higher you appear in that list (I think). I am now on that list, but quite far down. So, I’ll say it again, if you haven’t wishlisted the game already, please do so.

The work on Chapter 10 continues. I won’t go too much into it as I only did that mini-update a couple of weeks ago but I’m pleased to announce that Chapter 10 is officially fully posed and rendered. At the point of that last update, I anticipated that I only had about 35 renders left to do in total. It ended up being about 90. So current render count is now  2344. This figure does sometimes change as I play and find out my render queue has occasionally missed renders.

I’m working hard on the postwork for this now, and I’m currently a quarter of the way through it.  I’ve also made some more progress with the audio and the lewd writing, but right now the focus is the postwork. This will likely not progress much before the next mini-update comes out, what with Steam release and all. Plus, I’m going away on Saturday for a week to visit family across different parts of the country too. That’s why I pushed the Steam release to Aug 3 instead of dropping it next week.

I’m going to finish off with something regarding another game and its developer. I hope they don’t mind me saying this. If you’re well in the AVNsphere, you may be aware that FlipDaShit’s game Summer In The City (a game I love btw), was unfairly rejected by Steam and their plans for the game - I assume - were probably thrown into complete uncertainty. It was precisely this reason that I have been so anxious about getting rejected by them too.

The good news is that Summer in the City is instead coming to GoG, so I ask you all to please consider checking it out and wishlisting it to help it get the awesome release it was robbed of. Or if you want, you can support through Patreon for access to Season 2 which the first release of just came out too. And in the meantime, I’ll try and make sure Summer gets her Steam appearance with Season 2 of Origin Story (she’s the same Summer from the future vision).

And look, Summer’s got great taste in games too.

See you in the next one, post Steam release (eek!)

Thanks, everyone.JD
