Our main character wakes up on an island with a group of other people, all confused about where they are and what happened. Once the rest of the group comes to, somebody approaches and informs them that they have graciously been accepted into participating in this generation’s Bridal Royale. 100 people have been selected for the games and each of them have been injected with a device capable of pumping a serum that will transform them. The winner becomes the prince's bride and the island’s new queen. The top 25 contestants become bridesmaids and the queen’s servants, all living in luxury on the island. A group of people revolt and refuse to participate. The gamesmaster waves her hand and one of them drops to the ground. She explains that this contestant’s implant has been activated and just purged its entire stock of the serum. The group watches as the contestant balloons out with an extreme transformation and winds up a brain-fried bimbofied ditz. The gamemaster collects her new minion and informs the group that the bottom 75 contestants will serve the kingdom and the royale games in any way she sees fit and anybody trying to escape or not participate will wind up in the brain-drained state. The threat is enough to get the remaining 99 contestants to reluctantly agree to compete.
The first event is staged similarly to a reality show travel contest and the people just have to make it from the shores of the island to the kingdom. The top 50 will move to the next round and the rest will be turned over to the gamesmaster. Not particularly skilled in any way, our main character manages to make it to the city gates, helping and being helped by other contestants along the way. After the 50 gather, they witness all the remaining people in the field still racing to the goal dropping down and heavily morphing, but keeping their minds intact because they did try to win. The gamesmaster informs them that despite her warnings, there are always those that try to flee so her party girl friend has some new gal pals.
