This one was a game idea built around running an immoral genetic company (slightly moreso than usual). You played as an assistant serving the leader of the Gentech company that has cracked and gone mad with power. Or we could do a Mercs tie in and have you serving the Warden or one of Daisy’s generals!
Your boss has snapped and is no longer focused on running the business and wants to start testing all the company’s tech. And she just so happens to have a whole company full of people on her payroll that would serve as guinea pigs for her experiments.
Your main character just starts off as her personal assistant, getting specific tasks or general wants from the boss. Like she may want you to spike the coffee of the IT department or just wants to see 10% of the staff morphed by the end of the week. With these tasks, your mission is to balance keeping the company running and keeping the workers sane without staging a mutiny versus the boss's growing demands and insanity. If you’re too gung ho about satisfying your boss’s whims, the company crashes down into chaos. If you hold back too much, the boss gets angry and volunteers you to become her personal lab rat.
As you progress through the game, you move up in the ranks and get promoted, while the boss’s demands get more and more extreme. If you can survive until the product ships, you win. I could see a lot of fun alternate endings. Do too well and the company’s product is amazing and now the boss can turn it against the whole world. Do just enough and the boss is satisfied so she leaves this division in your hands, so will you follow her power mad ways or be a normal boss. And then all sorts of bad endings where the boss takes her frustrations out on you.
I never really had a great plan on what the moment to moment gameplay would be though. I mean, it would make a great Hitman style thing, with you sneaking around planning accidents so employees don’t know it’s you/the boss causing the chaos on purpose. More realistically, it probably would have been a purely menu driven game if I made it myself, maybe a tiny minigame at key moments. Like the Sims but one level higher so you’re managing each division, rather than a specific person. Balancing the division’s moods and needs, acting out the boss’s whims but spending resources to help the employees cope/not quit, and managing the product schedule to reach the end game. It was really one of those concepts where the idea was the most fun part but actually making it would have been a bit of a slog and then playing it would be all menus so that wouldn’t be a ton of fun either. I guess we’ll just have to get a benefactor to pay for the Hitman-y version of it!
