Trying to recover the plan to make her friend into a bimbo she can be proud of, the scientist points out that his shoes are flopping off his now perfectly dainty feet and they need to go shoe shopping! He inspects them and agrees that this does look like a tripping and safety hazard and agrees. Thanks to her genius, the next block over has a shoe store and she chuckles to herself that she knows this luxury brand wouldn’t shame itself by selling anything under a four inch heel. She offers to hide, er, hold his clothes bag while he goes in and gets fitted for something that fits that wonderful arch his feet now have.
As the minutes pass, she regrets missing out on seeing him strut around trying on pairs and pairs of shoes, each heel higher than the last until he’s walking on the very tips of his toes in honor of the heights of fashion she has introduced him to! She’s practically bursting with glee when the door chimes and he greets her again. Looking down upon the horror of the foam and rubber monstrosities wrapped around his perfect feet, she just stares at him slack jawed. He smiles and points the horrible sandals to her and happily recounts how it took awhile to find something decent but the store had a display of shower sandals. Most of them were all bedazzled or glittery but they found a box in the backroom of plain brown ones the store was going to send back so they were happy to sell him a pair. What luck!
Science is ever undeterred, so she grabs her friend by the arm and runs her free hand through his glorious locks. It may be shimmering and golden, but having that much hair just sprouting is unkempt and begging to get caught in a door or grabbed by a child with sticky hands running by. Furiously cutting off his suggestion to get some scrunchies at the corner store, she points to the salon up the street. Rushing in, the scientist desperately tries to convey to the worker at the front desk how important it is she gets her friend in right away. Yes, they don’t have an appointment but it would have looked too suspicious to have an appointment ready for this spontaneous happening! A very confused worker turns her down again but after many back and forths, and agreement to pay triple for the emergency rush, she gets her friend an opening. With a fist raised in triumph, he’s nowhere to be seen. Not getting her hopes up for sexy debauchery after last time, the scientist scans every store in a panic until seeing her friend leave a barbershop she hadn’t accounted for. Tears well in her eyes and he happily rubs a scalp buzzed to even shorter than it was when he set to breakfast out this morning.
Worried about his friend’s emotional distress, the man gathers the shopping bags and hails a cab to take them back to his apartment. Once inside, he pours his desolate friend a glass of wine and sets her down on his comfiest chair. Patting her back, he tries to cheer her up by saying she can study his bizarre condition and it could help her back at the lab. Wanting to drown herself in the wine and mourn her chance at having her bimbo party girl best friend, she solemnly mumbles out that she’ll have a cure for him by Wednesday.
