Our story begins in an isolated city, having recently discovered it’s trapped in a Groundhog Day style time loop. However, this one is different because most of the city is aware of this, not just one person. Nobody knows the cause. Nobody knows why some people in the city don’t know about the loops and remember past days and others do. Nobody knows how to end it. We join the story a few months into the event where people have gotten used to it. Some people are trying to fix it, others are reveling in the chaos knowing that you can party wherever and however you want, some are genuinely trying to better themselves and make use of their seeming quasi-immortality, some live of fantasies that involve breaking laws, and some take it to the extreme and kill knowing that since everybody revives tomorrow their actions are without consequence.
After one of the loops, time then advances forward to the next day. Immediate panic everywhere. All the people that were killed partying and being violent the day before stay dead this time. Good and bad actions are locked in place and the calendar has advanced a single day without warning. At the end of "Day 2", the day loops again. All the people from Day 1 stay dead and the consequences are still there, but people are stuck in a loop on Day 2 again and the process continues. People immediately turn on the groups trying to cure the loop, but they aren't aware of having done anything new or different. It's not their fault time advanced. Some groups have been scared straight, others push for the cure group to get to work harder, others want to completely stop the cure group, some have been so broken by the consequences of Day 1’s outcome that they're just broken now, and others have just given into the violence unwilling to live with this curse. Mass depression, sadness, and regret take hold of the city for many, many loops. People now feel more responsibility for their actions and trying to stop others from acting poorly in case a Day 3 happens.
