Two adventurers push through the swamp lands, looking worse for the wear. One, a mighty warrior, and the other, a be-robed mystic type. They come across a huge silvery lake blocking their way.
Mystic: I... DON’T SEE ANY BRIDGES OR BOATS. THE WATER STRETCHES AS FAR AS I CAN SEE. IT WOULD TAKE DAYS TO WALK AROUND THIS.
Warrior: OUR PATH IS DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM US. IT DOESN’T LOOK TOO DEEP, SO LET US JUST FORD THROUGH. AS EXPLORERS!
Once they step in together, it’s clear that it isn’t water at all.
Mystic: UGH, WHAT IS- IT FLOWS LIKE WATER, BUT IT’S ALMOST COMPLETELY DRY.
Warrior, holding his sword inside it: AND SOFT. MY BLADE GLIDES RIGHT THROUGH.
Little bits of the fuzz are sticking to them around their legs.
Progress across the lake is slow, and getting slower as the substance gets thicker and more and more is sticking to them. They trudge along with heavy steps in silence.
