Through the week, the bartender continues transforming with each shift. He now fills out the uniform quite nicely and has to tie back his long hair. The boss’s scheme seems to be working well. More customers come every day, and drink orders and tips with them. The bartender notices a few regulars from his previous job, but makes sure to not introduce himself with his new looks. By week two, the tips are covering his full daily pay and then the transformations slow down and stabilize.
Coming in for the night’s shift, the owner follows the bartender back to the employee room. Tonight’s a special party event so she has her other bartender working the bar too. To class it up, there’s a new uniform as well. Opening his locker, he pulls out a vest with a snatched waist and a tight, small skirt. Both manage to fit just fine when he gets changed. A pair of heels are neatly lined up on the bench and he doesn’t even bother asking if they’re meant for him.
Shortly into the night, the party starts and the owner pulls him aside. To make the event special, he’s to work as a hostess for the guests’ table. They’re paying rather well. Without waiting for a response, she pulls his hair tie out and escorts him over to the table. The bartender goes rigid and tries to back away but the owner’s arm doesn’t budge an inch. After a moment distracted by the hostess, the head of the table pulls back, recognizes their server, and shoots his housemate a glare. The friend asks for a moment to speak with the hostess and a round of whoops go up from the table.
His friend is shocked and angry at first. Is this why he never sees his friend lately? He comes home from work late and then just locks himself in his room and only offers muffled replies through the locked door. The friend went to the old bar, only to find out the bartender hadn’t been there for over a week. The bartender tries to explain, but really can’t. Outside of shrugging and saying that the pay is good. The friend is relieved that the bartender is okay and isn’t angry with him, happy his friend isn’t sick or something. The bartender says he’ll go grab the other worker to sit with the table for the night, but his friend stops him. Why not hang out with them, it’s free drinks and basically a night off, and his buddies have already seen him but didn’t recognize him, so just stay. The bartender glances over and recognizes the table guests as his friend’s frat buddies that he’d met a few times when he visited his friend’s much more expensive private school. He relents and follows his pal back to the table, scooting over closer to him and away from the already tipsy revelers.
