This is probably one of the oldest game notes I had written down. I’m going to say this is over 15 years old. Such is the power of... Rasberry Crazy Ants!
(Yes, not “raspberry)
Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the ol’ RCAs. They can make their own armor to protect themselves against rival fire ants! That alone is one bad ass ant. But what draws them to us today is their unexplained love of electronics and that’s what our gameplay is centered around.
You are a mad scientist and, as is your wont, you have decided that humanity is too impure to continue and must face your wrath. Wrath delivered at the many hands of your friends, the Rasberry Crazy Ants. The player doesn’t directly control the ants. You have an overhead view of a play space and you can create sparks to draw the ants’ attention. Most stages involve you guiding the ants to electronic devices they can nest in and collect. Your group of ants grows larger and larger until you have a living ball sweeping over the play space, smiting everything in its path. You have a limited time until law enforcement is called, so grow your ball of ants as large as you can and cause enough destruction to clear the stage before time runs out.
Some stages, the humans will be on full alert and send military fighters against you. But the modern military comes equipped with many beguiling electronics of their own, so fight back without losing too many of your ants. Pick off soldiers, take their gear, and armor up so you can take down more of them. Clear the area of soldiers and their materiel to power up your ants without losing too many of them to finish the stage.
Once humanity has faced your anty wrath, it’s time to head towards the nuclear power plant to electrify your ants into a gigantic size. But oh no! The military has dispatched a creature of their own! A giant dinosaur monster to fight your ants. I always pictured it as like a Bert I Gordon era movie dinosaur that’s just an iguana with some extra spike or frill accessories tacked on it. Scientifically accurate dinosaur or not, you have to use everything you’ve learned and your bond with the ants to grow to fight back and armor up to defend against its heat breath!
