Subject FFXP-02 (of the Bos Taurus genus) presently resides in the Tristellar Kingdom, a Type 0 monarchial civilization that has achieved the practice of probabilistic-thaumaturgy – in other words, magic techniques that can manipulate outcomes.
Colloquially, this is referred to as the "power to defy fate" or "Divine Initiative". Very few are born with the innate ability to harness this power – and the only known party in the Tristellar Kingdom who can do so freely is its current monarch, the "Goddess" Queen Hildra.
As part of some long-held tradition, however, it is understood that Queen Hildra can also bestow her "Divine Initiative" to chosen individuals. One of these individuals is Subject FFXP-02, who was gifted a portion of "Divine Initiative" in the form of an ornate cowbell secured around her neck – which can be rung to activate its probabilistic capabilities.
When activated by Subject FFXP-02, each instance of "Divine Initiative" takes the form of three ethereal cuboids that resemble common board game dice, with ancient numerals on each face. Depending on the sum total of the numbers that these cuboids land on, a myriad of outcomes can occur based on Subject FFXP-02's current situation.
For example: a high total number during an expedition once led to Subject FFXP-02 discovering a cache of high-quality weapons for her platoon. Conversely, a low total number during combat once resulted in Subject FFXP-02's armor spontaneously shattering.
Due to the inconsistent nature of this ability, Subject FFXP-02 has understandably limited the use of "Divine Initiative" to situations where she is under high duress or great disadvantage only. As a result, she typically relies on her own physiological prowess to handle most of the obstacles that she encounters.
[Addendum: two other kingdoms are known to exist in an armistice with the Tristellar Kingdom. However, it is presently unknown if these kingdoms are also capable of using their own forms of "Divine Initiative" as well.]
