Just a check-in to let you know what's what...
So.. as I mentioned in my Easter post, I was sick over the Easter holidays. Thankfully, it wasn't anything serious and just to clarify, it's not the beginning of some health issue (or excuse) that is going to impact development going forward. I was just out for bit with a gastric flu which (literally 😊) knocked the shit out of me. But I'm back to 100% and have been for the past few days and back working away furiously on Season 2.
It's been a shitty start to the month (I've probably produced the equivalent of 6 days work over the past two weeks), but we are back at full steam now. Also, Cell had to take a few days off to (understandably) work on his latest release of the Cabin,but he will be back on WTHI as of tomorrow, so we expect to have a really strong few weeks over the rest of April.
I did continue working on the script and art (in Cell's absence). So far for every scene that we have completed for season 2, we have reworked everything completely (ALL artwork and a lot of script).
The original art was pretty bad and definitely needs a rework, but as I progress further into episodes that will be part of Season 2.... I start thinking that not ALL of the artwork needs to be re-done. All of the episodes in season 1 needed to be re-done and definitely a good chunk of Season 2 (especially the earlier episodes), but I'm seeing some scenes where the art is pretty good already (We had a significant improvement in art as the game progressed) and this was sort of what I expected... that some scenes... I will need to make a call on whether they need a full re-do / upgrade or just some tweaks.
Obviously, full re-dos will take longer... small tweaks will be quicker... I want Season 2 art to meet your expectations (i.e. as good as Season 1 or better is the bar that I'm aiming for) So as I progress... I will be looking for some inputs from you folks as to which scenes are already at the quality required for Season 2.
For example....Here are some images/scenes from the original game that we have already re-done:
Pretty much all of episodes 11-13, including these scenes....
Old bedroom, old Jenna, bad lighting...
Re-do - We changed the location and re-did the whole scene.
Old Zarah, bad lighting....

Upgraded Zarah, new location, new date...
Same old shabby meeting room, bad lighting....
Change of location, improved outfits, lighting, etc.
We re-did the whole beach scene as Debbie's eyes were the wrong color and overall there were too many dark shadows for a day at the beach. And some of the posing was pretty basic (as were the animations)... This was quite a large scene, but it was well worth the re-do and similarly for the other re-dos, we also added lots of extras. The upgraded version looks like this...

These are just a few of many, many scenes that we have already upgraded, and we will continue with this upgrade on many more scenes. Based on the original images, I was in no doubt that they all needed to be fully re-done. None of those original images were anywhere near the level of quality that I'm aiming for in Season 2.
But here is an example of some scenes that I'm on the fence about that I want your opinion on... to see if they are already up to scratch? Or if a full re-do is needed.... (Don't worry, even if we agree that a full re-do isn't needed, there will still be tweaks / additional content added), so it is these images that I want your opinion on....
Original images below. Do these meet the quality bar? Are they good enough? Do they need to be scrapped and fully re-done? Or just a little tweak here and there?
We will need to re-do the Bella scene anyway for her new hair, but assuming that gets fixed... is the current quality up to scratch on this one?
Please let me know in the poll and please provide as much info / inputs in the comment section so I can get a good feel for your opinions. Or would you like me to put a poll out on any specific scene before I start the re-do (only the ones I'm on the fence about - there are plenty that I'm already committed to a full re-do on)? Let me know please.
