Good morning folks! It's Saturday!
I am a funny little husk because it is very dry and very dark here. I don't think I've seen the sun in 2 weeks [ it's just been cloudy every day, plus the days get real short up this far north in winter ]
But! I'm still doing alright. I'm using my seasonal affective disorder lamp and getting outside when I can. I got a fair bit of writing done again, probably similar to last week. The script is still pushing me towards madness but 🤷♀️ I can keep writing or I can scream into a jar and then close it really quickly and hide it behind my toilet. I don't have any jars at the moment, so writing it is.
Honestly the only thing freaking me out still is the amount of work that has to be done with the script. It still feels like so much ahead of me.
Even once that's all filled in with blue, the editing passes will take a long time. This script will need extra attention and writing during the editing passes, plus I have a really unreasonable amount of variables to keep track of [ for instance this week on Friday I realized I wrote all week without remembering to touch lawrence's affection stat :') ] I am the architect of my despair LMAO
Still, we walk forward. Progress has been made. And as long as I keep at it, we'll get there. The time will pass anyway, etc etc.
Oh, before I go on, I wanted to take a second to thank you guys for being so nice lately. You were all so sweet and understanding during my writer's block, and last week you were so encouraging and positive about my progress. It helped my confidence with the new script and changes to Lawrence, and I'm sure I would be struggling a lot more if it weren't for you guys. Thank you so much!
Now let's move on cuz I have some crumbs for y'all again this week:
Still just experimenting with drawing scenes from the script. The final sprites might not be anything like these sketches but it's good practice and it keeps me focused on the uhh... I dunno how to describe, the 'screen direction'?
It's important for me to try and imagine what will be on screen when I'm writing because that keeps me from writing stuff that makes no visual sense. I actually ended up changing a scene from the original game [ that I generally did want to be in this new game ] just because I didn't think the positioning worked. I think the new version should be good though, it'll let me draw from an angle I don't usually get to do [ sorry for being vague here about the scene but I can't be spoiling everything LMAO ]
Anyway, I think that's about all I got this week!
I attached two videos to the bottom of this update- I wanted to show Willow's level 1 and level 2 purrs 😁 [ might have to turn up sound to hear them ]
Stay safe and stay warm folks! Hang in there! And of course, see y'all next week!
