Hi guys,How is everybody doing? I hope you all had an amazing week.
Last week I was focused solely on writing. It looks like this episode is also going to be quite big. Hopefully not as big as the previous one, but overall things are going well. I’ve reached the point where I’m deciding on a game for the beach, and I think the best choice would be volleyball, obviously with forfeits, considering who’s going to be playing.
Sometime this week I’ll create a poll asking what you think about adding a very simple mini-game to make winning or losing a bit more interesting, but I’ll share more details about that in another post.
That being said, I’m really enjoying writing this episode and I’m confident you’ll enjoy it as well.
So much for the beach escape that was supposed to be just the two of them.4K DOWNLOAD in attachments
Now that the weekly report is out of the way, I want to explain why it’s coming on a Monday morning instead of late Friday. This is a bit personal and has nothing to do with No More Money, so feel free to skip this part if you’d like.
Ever since I started this game, I knew it would be a long-term project. To avoid the burnout that can come from working on the same story, with the same characters, for years, I occasionally start smaller side projects just to refresh my mind a bit.
The first one was Paradox, which was supposed to be a small project, but it still turned into something fairly substantial, meaning I had to do it with another person. As some of you remember after the first version was released, that person decided to step away because the game didn’t receive the attention he had hoped for. That’s when I realized I needed to create something even simpler that I could handle entirely on my own in my free time.
That’s how the Dirty Texts games came to be. Luckily, those three stories had a writer involved, so my role was mainly creating the renders, which made it manageable to work on them during the weekends.
Last year I had to take a break from everything for a few personal reasons, one of them being burnout. Because I want to avoid reaching that point again, a few months ago I started another Dirty Texts project. This one will be an anthology with many more stories.
Since I don’t want this to take time away from the development of No More Money, I work on it during weekends. However, sometimes it’s better creatively to spend several days in a row on the same project. That’s why I decided to dedicate last Monday and Tuesday to it as well. I was in the flow since the weekend so I didn't want to loose that. After that, I spent the next five days working on No More Money and yesterday night when I left the office I was too tired to create a render for this post.
So overall, I’m still putting in around 40–50 hours per week on No More Money, just in a slightly different structure. Until a demo of Dirty Texts – Anthology is released, the Weekly Reports might occasionally appear a bit more randomly.
The demo will include three stories, and the full project will likely contain somewhere between 12 and 18 stories, depending on how well it’s received. It will definitely be a long-term project, but my plan is to only work on new stories occasionally, whenever I need a short break from No More Money to reset my brain.
I just want to make it clear that the development of No More Money is NOT affected in any way by this. Normally I wouldn’t be working on it during weekends anyway, except when we’re very close to a release.
That being said, I wish you all an amazing week, and I’ll keep you posted once I have something solid to show.
Bests,Jason
