Hey everyone! Let me present to you the Thirteen-Eyed House, the second map for the Cults & Swamps theme. This is also the final map that I will be releasing on this Patreon.
The Thirteen-Eyed House is a place where shadows linger. From the outside, it appears like any other simple structure in the village, built with old stone, though there is a peculiar stillness that surrounds it. Once inside, however, the atmosphere shifts. The house has no windows, and the air grows heavy, oppressive. The walls are slick with moisture, and the faint smell of decay clings to the corners. The faintest whisper of movement can be heard.
At the back of the Thirteen-Eyed House lies a circular altar with a large, wide-open eye carved into its stone surface. Around this central eye, seven smaller purple eyes are embedded, their surfaces glowing faintly, as though alive. These eyes seem to pulse in time with the heartbeat of the room, their glow casting eerie shadows that shift and flicker, as though they were watching not just those present, but the very space itself.
Above the altar, five more bright purple eyes are etched into the stone wall, looming over the worshippers, their gaze unblinking, unwavering. They seem to be watching everything that happens within the room, and perhaps even beyond. The eyes feel all knowing, seeing things hidden to mortal eyes. A soft hum seems to vibrate through the air, emanating from the eyes, as if the god himself is whispering to those who dare to listen.
On the floor, beneath the altar, a strange ooze clings to the stone. Its surface is alive with countless tiny eyes that seem to blink and watch those who approach. The ooze moves with slow, deliberate motions, creeping along the cracks in the floor and up the walls, its eyes reflecting the dim light like a thousand tiny mirrors. It is said that the ooze is an extension of the god’s will, moving and shifting according to his desires, ever watching, ever waiting for the next offering.
The air within the Thirteen-Eyed House is heavy. It is a place where the chosen commune with Morlorrim, seeking his favor, making their sacrifices, and basking in the cold, all-seeing gaze of the god. No one enters without being watched, and no one leaves unchanged. The House is a sanctuary, a temple, but it is also a place of power and danger, where the darkness is alive, and those who seek knowledge may pay a terrible price.
