Hey everyone! Let me present to you the Ruined Castle and Ruined Village Pt. 1 & 2, a selection of free maps from the Daniel's Maps backlog.

This will be the last map post on this page before it closes. There will be a followup post and you can read more about there HERE. Thank you all so much for the support over the past year and a half, it truly means the world to me!

Now for the map lore:

Some places in Rasfadal have been long since forgotten. These places were abandoned for many different reasons and are now little more than old piles of rocks marking the places the people once called home.

The ruins of Sahr Hill are located at the foot of a tall hill, decorated by a small chapel. The village was once wealthy and prosperous, with dozens of families living there. Year after year the nearby Funary Forest grew closer. It expanded faster than any forest naturally would, and the people of Sahr Hill feared that a malevolent spirit was threatening their safety.

Many of the villagers tried to cut back the forest, tree by tree. When that didn't help they used fire and tried to burn the forest down, but still the trees came. When the villagers no longer hoped to fight off the forest they left their homes. After that the forest consumed the village, and now all that remains are a handful of broken walls and overgrown paths.

To this day it remains unknown what caused the forest to turn on the village near Sahr Hill...

North of the Village near Sahr Hill was a small rise, at the crest a shrine. The little building has since collapsed in on itself, but the ruins can still be found.

Long ago this shrine was dedicated to Milory and her children. For centuries the people lived here in peace and prospered. But when the Burbric Empire came the shrine was repurposed and dedicated to Kordus and the Gods of Order. Eventually the Burbric Empire collapsed and the people returned to their old way of life. But not completely. The shrine remained dedicated to Kordus and the forest was angered. It sent many trees to punish the villagers and eventually they were forced to leave their homes. Now Milory has once again taken residence in the shrine and the forest thrives.

Not far from the village there was once a mighty castle, home to a powerful lord who ruled over a great kingdom. Now the kingdom has been forgotten, the lord is long dead and the castle a mere ruin. A pile of rocks and crumbled walls that once protected lords, ladies, maid and servants.

Today the kingdom of Burbry is the oldest kingdom in Wordal, but it was by no means the first. Before Burbry there was the Ryric Empire, a collection of small kingdoms around Lake Ryrmon. But even before those kingdoms it is believed that the Old Kings ruled over the land, mysterious being that were here long before men, or elves or dwarves. The remnants of their castles, cities and monuments are scattered throughout the continent. Some of these places are surrounded by concentrated pools of magic. Others are desolate of any forms of life, magical or otherwise.
