DESCRIPTION

The ruined Kazahana Castle loomed over the frozen wasteland.

Team 7 and the surviving film crew pushed through the massive, shattered oak doors. Inside, the castle was a tomb of ice and dead memories. Frost covered the grand staircases. The air was dead.

Yukie walked like a ghost. Her eyes darted across the frozen architecture.

"This was his dream," Director Sandayu whispered, his breath pluming in the cold. He pointed to massive, rusted pipes running along the high ceilings.

"Geothermal generators," Sandayu explained. "Lord Sosetsu didn't believe in magic. He believed in engineering. He built a network of thermal channels beneath the ice to physically thaw the country. The Hex Crystal around the Princess's neck is the activation key."

Kenji looked up at the frozen pipes. He ran a hand over the rusted metal.

"Smart," Kenji smirked. "He wasn't a dreamer. He was an engineer with good branding. Spring in the Land of Snow sells a lot better than 'Geothermal Infrastructure'."

Yukie paused. The corners of her mouth twitched. She almost smiled.

From across the frozen hall, Sakura Haruno watched.

Sakura’s green eyes narrowed. She noticed Yukie wasn't staring at the castle. Yukie was staring at Kenji. And it wasn't the look of a scared client. It was the look of a woman absolutely captivated by the man who had shattered her fear.

A sudden, toxic spike of jealousy flared in Sakura’s chest.

Why do I care? Sakura thought, her knuckles turning white as she gripped her medical kit. He’s a vulgar creep.

But her body betrayed her logic. Her mind instantly flashed back to the freezing ice cave. She remembered the suffocating heat of the blanket tent. She remembered the heavy, dominant weight of his hands kneading her flesh.

Sakura looked at Kenji’s large hands tracing the metal pipes. A heavy, shameful dampness pooled between her thighs. She hated him. But she hated how much she wanted his attention back on her.

Down the hall, Sasuke stood frozen in front of a massive, torn oil painting.

It was the royal family. Sosetsu Kazahana holding a young Koyuki.

A murdered family. A stolen legacy. A survivor forced to run.

Sasuke stared at it. The parallels were suffocating. The Uchiha compound flashed in his mind.

"Careful, Sasuke."

Sasuke stiffened. Kenji stood right behind him, his presence completely masked until he spoke.

"Stare too long and you might accidentally develop some empathy," Kenji whispered coldly.

Sasuke glared over his shoulder. "Shut up."

"You lost a clan. She lost a country," Kenji said, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Both of you treat suffering like it's a personality trait. It’s pathetic. Get over it."

Kenji didn't wait for a response. He walked away, leaving the words to dig like jagged glass into Sasuke’s shattered pride.

Kenji pushed open the heavy double doors at the end of the hall.

The throne room.

The roof had collapsed years ago. Snow piled high around the shattered crystal throne.

Yukie was already there. She sat on the broken ice chair, her fur coat wrapped tight.

"This is where princesses go to become ghosts," Yukie whispered, her voice echoing in the empty, frozen room.

Kenji walked down the red, frost-covered carpet.

"No," Kenji answered, his voice a low, heavy rumble. "This is where cowards come to rehearse excuses."

Yukie glared at him. Her defiance flared. But she didn't shrink away.

Kenji stepped directly into her personal space. He stood between her knees, towering over her on the throne. The physical tension in the freezing air was electric.

"Princess Gale. Yukie Fujikaze. Koyuki Kazahana," Kenji listed, leaning down so his face was inches from hers. "They are all just performances. Cheap scripts. You’re waiting for a director to tell you who to be."

Kenji reached over to a nearby equipment crate. A film crew member had abandoned a heavy, mechanical recording camera there.

Kenji picked it up. He hoisted it onto his shoulder and pointed the glass lens directly at her face.

Yukie stiffened. Her posture instantly shifted. Her spine straightened. The raw vulnerability vanished behind the polished mask of an actress.

Kenji noticed immediately. He smirked from behind the lens.

"Look at that," Kenji murmured. "You feel safer when the lens is between you and the world."

Yukie stared down the barrel of the camera. "The camera doesn't ask questions."

"No," Kenji replied, his voice dropping to a dark, commanding whisper. "It records answers."

The silence in the throne room was absolute. The tension between them reached a boiling point. The air felt heavy, charged with a dark, unyielding magnetism.

Yukie looked at the glass lens, and then shifted her dark eyes to meet Kenji’s gaze.

She leaned forward on the throne. Her breathing was shallow.

"If you think you can direct me," Yukie whispered, her voice dripping with a desperate, suppressed heat. "Prove it."

Kenji lowered the camera. A predatory grin spread across his face.

"Careful, Princess," Kenji warned. "I charge by the scene."
