Following the angle between GUNTHER and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis during the WWE Night of Champions post-show, WrestleVotes on Fightful Select asked around and learned that there have been significant internal discussions about an in-ring program between Aldis and GUNTHER.A source shared that the idea of Aldis returning to the ring has been floated around on multiple occasions, one of those being in 2025 when there was a proposed program with Solo Sikoa that gained traction internally.WrestleVotes added that the concept of GUNTHER/Aldis has been discussed before, but not in the context that's currently unfolding. If there is a match between the two, the expectation is that it will be GUNTHER facing Aldis and not Aldis selecting someone to fight for him.Aldis has not wrestled since 2023. He is a former NWA Worlds Heavyweight and TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
