Kevin Knight vs. Kenny Omega is set as the main event for AEW Redemption.
Fightful Select had reported that the match was going to be the world championship move for the PPV, after Kenny Omega won the title from MJF. It was also noted that MJF would be taking some time off from AEW TV. However, his influence is still felt.
We're told that MJF was a driving creative force behind the idea of Kevin Knight taking on Kenny Omega for the world championship at AEW Redemption. He'd long wanted whoever was TNT Champion to challenge Kenny Omega after beating him for the title. We're told that didn't specifically have to be Kevin Knight, but that MJF was in favor of such, as well as Knight joining the Don Callis Family. MJF has denied he pushed for Knight in DCF.
AEW Redemption takes place this Sunday on HBO Max PPV.
