Hello all.
I'm currently on a content push to get Property Purchasing into Honcho. Here's how that will work.
Overview
Purchasing property provides the following benefits.
Save Point
Players who save in a town with a property they own will load back into that town
Narrative
Each property contains secrets, memoirs, diaries, notes and letters allowing Keiko to piece together the narrative of the world
New Jobs
With a property purchased in a town, Keiko will have access to 3 additional delivery jobs per property per day
New Garage Upgrade
With a property purchased in a town, Keiko will have access to all new local classified sellers, including a unique garage upgrade for each location
New Auto Trader
With a property purchased in a town, Keiko will have access to a new Auto Trader, allowing her to trade in and purchase different trucks
New Vending Market
With a property purchased in a town, Keiko can purchase and install at all new vending machine locations, opening an entirely new market and expanding her income
Truck Storage
Each property purchased grants access to Truck Storage, allowing Keiko to purchase additional trucks.
New Structures
In the current build (0.39c), players may notice that copies of the Keiko's home garage appear in both Wadashima and Yamanashi. These will be replaced by new structures that provide new layouts, storage space and narrative secrets.
Mortgages
The deeds no longer bear Grandpa's name. The Bank of Honcho owns them now and it's up to Keiko to buy them back.
Properties require large sums of money to purchase, as such mortgages are being added to the game. This allows Keiko to purchase the property with a minimum of 10% deposit, allowing her to make daily repayments towards the remaining cost. Be aware, banks are not your friends. The lower the deposit, the more aggressive the terms. Keiko can quickly become financially overwhelmed if she doesn't have the necessary cash flow in place.
Narrative
For players who need extrinsic goals to motivate them, work towards fleshing out the narrative is finally arriving.
After purchasing a property, Keiko will be able to dig through it to discover Grandpa's old personal effects. Items such as old letters, notes, documents, diaries, purchase receipts and more will allow Keiko to piece together the story of the world in a non-linear fashion.
Truck Storage
With additional properties purchased, players will finally be able to store additional trucks. Each property provides an additional truck storage option. Players can then swap out their truck at any property. To acquire additional trucks, Keiko must visit an Auto Trader.
This concludes the features of the 0.5 update. More details will be revealed closer to the release. No date for when this launches yet as I still have a lot of work to complete.
