Dear team! I’m very excited to announce a special lecture inspired by the current Raphael exhibition at The Met, one of the most ambitious shows ever assembled around this extraordinary artist.

This lecture is designed to give you the experience of visiting the exhibition together, no matter where you are. We’ll walk through the highlights of the show, looking closely at key works and uncovering what makes them so remarkable, not just in terms of beauty, but in how they’re constructed.
What makes this exhibition so special is the rare opportunity to see Raphael’s process up close. By exploring his preparatory drawings alongside finished paintings, we’re able to follow his thinking step by step: how he designs, simplifies, adjusts, and refines. In this sense, the exhibition doesn’t just show Raphael’s greatness, it reveals how he achieved it. Thanks to this exhibition, I made new technical discoveries that helped me understand Raphael much better, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
We’ll trace his development across different phases of his career and explore the principles that define his work: clarity, balance, and a deep sensitivity to design. We’ll train our eye to recognize these qualities, so that the next time you stand in front of a Raphael, at The Met or anywhere else, you’ll see far more than before.
Whether you’re planning to visit the exhibition or not, this lecture is meant to bring it to you. If you’re in New York, it will deepen your experience of the show. If you’re not, it will allow you to engage with its most important insights as if you were there with us.
This is going to be a very special one. Hope to see you there!
