After releasing version 1.5, I took a couple days off from working on Orphan. Then I came back with a vengeance, stoked by the positive reception that the project has received thus far. The growing amount of support here on Patreon and the emerging Discord community have really been a great motivating factor for me and definitely helps the creative flames within stay lit.
I plan on putting out a teaser image (character preview) later today for Patrons, as well continuing to put polls out on Patreon and the Discord depending upon their severity or potential impact on the game's direction. For example, there does appear to be a vote for longer updates every 6-8 weeks as opposed to more frequent, shorter updates.
I'm definitely going to take that into consideration and avoid putting out anything that will feel too insignificant. My goal with Chapter 2 is to break the 100k word barrier and to really solidify the storyline for each branch. I would tell you more, but that might spoil the surprise.
The past 4 days, I've written and revised 12,000 words.
My goal moving forward is a minimum of 2,000 words a day, but ideally 3,000.
This is while managing the growing variables and attempting to implement a fun, meaningful stat system that will genuinely make different playthroughs through the same branch feel different and worthy of checking out. If you're still here, thanks for reading!
Cheers.
