What's up, you beautiful bastards?
I've spent the last week honing my mastery of the art of writing.
Going into Orphan, I thought that the writing would be the strongest aspect and based on the reviews, this has proven to be the case. However, I've been experimenting with different methods lately to try and increase my output. The goal currently is to become more prolific.
A lot of it comes down to consistency and time investment, but practice does make perfect, slowly but surely. I'm also interested in trying out audio/dictation methods, but that will have to wait. Overall, I've had some success in increasing output this past week. I have a decent number of 3,000 word days under my belt and a single 6,000 word day. Productive days such as these will become more commonplace as I build the writing muscle like any other muscle that one may grow & strengthen.
Chapter 2 of Orphan is sitting at 32,000 words written and revised.
My goal is to write another 15-30k over the next week.
So far, I've advanced the storyline and character relationships in the "freedom/ascent" path, including the most expansive arc with a romantic interest thus far. There are 8 different outcome variables to track, plus your character's stats and dialogue choices impact what scenes you're able to access and your romantic interest's reception. The next few days of writing will bring this path to an (exciting) close, then I'll focus on a few revisions to a few paths in Chapter 1 before starting on a scene that I've been looking forward to for the "gladiator" path.
As much as I want to advertise Orphan continually to keep growing the community, I understand that Version 1.5 is relatively short and only a taste of what the game will look like after another 3-4 Chapters are released. This is a continually expanding and rapidly improving project. Hence, marketing/advertising has totally been on the backburner between releases. I think each update will speak for itself, especially as they continue to accumulate.
