I think this is the first time I'm posting a fully completed song as a demo on here.
As many of you know, I have a huge soft spot for 80s Prom Slow Dance songs. I wrote this one right near the end of the Let Me Be Your Womb period period, about 2 weeks before I finished the album. I was slow dancing one night, with my partner at the time, and while she held me the line "Underneath the water // you were singing my soul to sleep // you were teaching my heart to breathe" kept looping in my head. After we finished I ran to my studio and immediately wrote the rest of it and recorded it while she listened.
I thought it would be a really beautiful addition to the LMBYW body of work, to diversify the sonic palette... but after putting it in context and asking the rest of the people I bounce ideas off creatively, I realized it might kind of mar the album's soothing ventral-vagal effect.
So now it's just a song for her, and something I listen to often when I want to torture myself with nostalgia.
