DESCRIPTION

Hello.

To be honest, I have an entire essay of what I wanted to say. Partly to be accountable, partly because I've known a few of you guys for so long that I want to share everything but mostly because it's one way to show that I've been fighting to keep the project going.

I'll try to keep it short.

After my trip to visit my family member mentioned in the previous post, a lot of things came crashing down because responsibilities that I thought was too early for me to have was now something I have to take upon my own shoulders.

Previously, I held a day job that only required me to be around for 3-3.5 days a week which meant I had more time to develop the game. But with the recent situation requiring financial stability (or financial injection), I had to take up what is essentially a day job of 5 days at a new position (I took it without hesitation, stressed about my family's member situation). It goes without saying that it pays more. Of course, this game is close to my heart so I will never abandon it. But I didn't know my limits, nor did I know how draining and exhaustive the new role was going to be. The overtime is genuinely insane.

I was dead tired and found myself close to having pseudo mental breakdowns in the new role while constantly trying to set time aside to develop the game. This, along with adjusting to the new position, was burning me out fast.

Unless I can stabilize this new position to one where it doesn't exhaust me and affect what I really want to do (which is this game and being a creative, whether you deem me as one or not), I really don't think I should be working at this new job any longer. However, I still have my duty to my family member, and I can't just up and leave without any financial buffer seeing as how I need to help that member out.

I don't want you to think that I'll be leaving my full time position that pays me well because of a porn game as if I'm some selfish piece of shit throwing my family member to the lurch (or that I'm somehow that insanely passionate and selfless of a developer to give it all up, that's not realistic and I'm not).

I'm in this position because, unfortunately, despite how much time and effort I've sunk into SSP, the financial support is just not there yet for me to support myself. At least not in where I reside + the new additional responsibility. This goes without saying but I'm still eternally grateful for you guys being here, but the reality as it stands is the reality I need to work with.

So what now?

I've still been trying to find pockets of time to work on the update. Writing new Big B's dialogue was a huge chunk of fun that I haven't had for awhile. And I'm still working on the art and the development. Though at a much slower pace with how everything seems to be crashing down.

The update will still come; the game hasn't been dropped.

Until I get myself into a better position (a new job that pays lesser but allows me more time to work on SSP), game development and work on the update will continue to be moving at a slower pace.

And if I decide to actually leave the job (either with one awaiting me or without one in toll), I really have to set aside time to really market the game and make it a lot more accessible to people.

If you've been around, you know that I don't particularly enjoy talking about the finances of this game and the longer members who are in the know, knows that I'm pretty chill with them getting information/updates even if they're financially unable to support.

But money is now what'll buy me time and energy because of what has happened recently so I can't just leave it on the backburner any longer.

I know the update is not close, and the project feels dead, but I have to grow thicker skin just this once and ask that if you've been supporting, I hope you'll be able to continue. And if you haven't or have dropped your support, I hope you'll have faith in the project and drop a support. You don't have to do it now if you don't want to (or at all) but this is a hail mary situation from me. I'm only asking of this because it'll really help me build a financial buffer as I navigate to my next role that allows me to spend more time on the game.

Of course, I'll still be very grateful if you'll only be supporting because of the updates and that's fair, the purpose of this is post is for me to communicate.

I've thought it through a bunch (more than you can imagine) and decide it best to leave this job and find either one that gives me more time to work on the game or to find a way to support myself financially. Whatever your opinion on my decisions, or how I've approached things, or how communication hasn't been consistent, I hope you can understand that I'm only human.

If you haven't read all of that, the one takeaway you should have is really that, yes, the project will still continue and SSP is not dead.

Thank you and until next time.
