In our last post, we mentioned that after posting a "Show HN" post about Pinball Map on Hacker News ("Show HN" is basically a place where people say, "check out this project we're working on") we then got hit with a bunch of spambots. What we didn't mention is that the Show HN post got ZERO traction.
But then last week a moderator from the site sent us an email saying that the post looked promising, and that we should repost it. So we did, and it was popular!
The post made it to #3 on the site. In case you don't know, Hacker News is run by a big venture capital firm that has backed lots of major startups. Hacker News is their news site where people post links and discuss them. The posts are generally science and tech articles. The site is read by lots of people, and anything that makes it to the front page will gets lots of hits.
So, getting to the front page, and to the #3 slot for a time, gets us lots of exposure! And to top it off, we got a lot of positive comments! We also got some helpful, constructive comments.
