Hello! I hope you're having a wonderful week!
This week I’ve been working on a brand-new enemy: the Capra Shaman Idol!
These imposing statues represent a high-ranking demon from the Capra clan.
In the past humans used to worship her, keep watch over humans, and collect tributes from her followers.
For the design, I took the classic Baphomet pose you see everywhere
but i gave her a small twist: both hands throwing up double peace signs to make her feel more gyaru-like
She’s being designed to be a static long-range unity that charges up powerful projectile attacks.
She can also restore Poise to nearby demons, making her a dangerous support unit when paired up with other demons.
When you spot her paired with other enemies, you’ll have to decide quickly: take out the Idol first, or try to separate and pick off the demons one by one!
Lore
Demons love being worshipped especially the ones in high ranks.
That’s why statues like this used to be everywhere in the demon world.
Nowadays, full-sized demon statues are considered outdated.
Rumors say they’ve switched to plushies instead.
Since demon worship became forbidden and a major taboo in the human world, plushies are far more subtle, compact, easy to mass-produce allowing them to infiltrate in the human world with more ease
The last remaining functional statues can still be found scattered across the demon realm.
Many have lost their power, but some still hold just enough energy to act as surveillance devices in certain regions
Let’s choose her outfit together!
following this post I'll launch my very first community poll !
As a supporter, you get to vote on which clothing design you’d most like to see her wearing in the final game.
So its up to you to decide her fashion fate !
Right now you’ll only encounter her as statues, but eventually you will meet the real Capra Shaman in person.
Consider these statues a little foreshadowing of whats upcoming in a nearby future
What’s next?
This enemy ended up a bit off schedule, but for a very good reason!
I realized that filling the game with only melee enemies would start to feel repetitive, especially since I’ll soon be designing the first rooms for the demo.
First impressions matter a lot, so I wanted to spice things up and make the encounters more fun, dynamic, and memorable right from the start.
The good news is that because she’s a static enemy, she doesn’t need tons of animations.
On top of that, I already have a solid NPC template from previous work, so with just a few lines of code she was already mostly functional.
She now has all the core systems + the flexibility to add her special behaviors.
I’m happy to say she should be fully completed around the middle of next week.
After that, I’ll jump back into the rest of the tasks on the list!
